Why You Should Travel with Essential Tech

There are so many cool ways that technology can enhance your travel experiences. From staying connected with loved ones to navigating unfamiliar cities, travel tech keeps you powered up, connected, and ready for anything your adventure throws your way.

It helps you capture incredible moments on your travels to share with friends and family and revisit your memories later. It keeps you entertained on long flights and trains and provides peace of mind with luggage tracking (my bag went where??). When you’re far from home, convenience can equal comfort; and the travel gadgets I’m going to share with you bring the convenience!

How to Choose the Right Travel Tech for You

With so many options out there, it can be difficult to choose the right tech to bring with you. It’s also very tempting to err on the side of caution and just pack it all! But, I’m here to tell you that you don’t need to do that. You just need to pack the right tech for you.

Think about your comfort level with technology – are you a quick learner, or do you prefer hands-on guidance?

What about your travel style – do you pack everything but the kitchen sink, or do you prefer to travel light with just a carry-on?

And where you are going on your trip – will you have access to outlets to charge your devices, or will you be off the grid for extended periods?

The good news is, there’s fantastic travel tech out there for everyone.  Now, let’s explore my 15 essential gadgets available on Amazon that can help you on your travels, even if you’re not tech-savvy.

Phone Accessories

Your phone is your travel lifeline, snapping photos, translating languages, and guiding you through your adventures. These phone accessories keep you powered up and entertained throughout your travels. From fighting dead batteries to enjoying crystal-clear audio during flights, these tech products ensure your phone remains your reliable travel companion, no matter where you are.

AirFly Pro Audio Transmitter / Receiver

This cool Bluetooth gadget plugs into the old-fashioned headphone jacks behind the airplane seat. You can use your AirPods (or other Bluetooth earbuds) and connect to this to watch a movie. This is an incredible thing to have with you, so you’re not using those terrible, cheap airline earphones.

Apple EarPods Headphones

If you don’t want to spend over $50 on the AirFly, you can buy these wired earbuds for under $20. They have the old-school plug to fit the AUX outlet behind the seat. This is also great because some airlines make you turn off Bluetooth headphones for takeoff and landing. If you have these, you can watch movies all the way to the gate.

Apple AirPods Pro

If you get an AirFly, I also recommend these 2nd-gen Apple AirPods. Imagine trying to catch some rest on the plane, only to wake up at every cough, conversation, or shuffle down the aisle. These are noise-canceling, a game-changer for a peaceful rest, or enjoying your entertainment without distractions. I can’t fly without them!

Anker Portable Charger

A portable charger is a travel essential! I recommend this one by Anker on any trip, especially if you take lots of photos and videos on your phone. It has both USB and USB-C and can charge your phone multiple times on one battery. It is a little heavy, but I feel this one is well worth the investment and the weight to bring with you. I love it!

Photography & Videography Helpers

Say goodbye to awkward selfies with these innovative gadgets that provide the extra hand you need to effortlessly capture your adventures. Perfect for solo travelers or groups, these helpers ensure you never miss a moment, whether you’re snapping photos or recording videos on your phone. These accessories are essential for every modern traveler wanting to capture and cherish their travel experiences.

KeySmart BagHang Purse Hook

This one isn’t tech itself, but it is a handy travel tech helper. The BagHang is a purse hook that doubles as a clever tripod for your phone. It has a suction grip to stick to many surfaces. Just set it up on a table, on the wall, on the ground, anywhere you want. It’s lightweight, folds away to save space, and can hook onto your purse or keychain. This is amazing; it works great for me!

Phone Case Adhesive Mount

This Octobuddy hands-free phone mount is one of my favorite tech buddies! It’s a huge help when I’m traveling solo and need to film content on the go. Stick it on the back of your phone, and then your phone can stick to a window, mirror, refrigerator, or any smooth, flat surface. It’s so much easier to take photos of yourself and film videos. This is the dream!

Selfie Stick Phone Tripod

This is my favorite tripod I carry with me everywhere. It extends so far (up to 70 inches) but is very lightweight and folds up to fit in my backpack. It also doubles as a selfie stick and comes with a remote. It’s amazing; I’ve been so happy with this that I’ve had 3 of them. They don’t last super long (you get what you pay for), but it’s so worth the price to have on your next trip.

CamKix Camera Shutter Remote

I love this Bluetooth clicker for help taking photos. With this,  you don’t have to run away from your phone to pose really quickly in a timed photo. It’s so easy to use; you just stand there, hide this behind your back, or put your hand on your hip and click away. It can work up to 30 feet away from your device. This has been a lifesaver for me! I love it, and it’s so small, it fits in your pocket.

Entertainment Tech Products

You’re having so much fun on your travels; why would you possibly need to bring more entertainment with you? Well, sometimes you get stuck on long layovers (not to mention the flight itself!) or have spare time in between activities. Or maybe you plan on lounging by the pool, going to the beach, or taking a boat out on the water! These are the moments when it can be nice to have a little something extra to help you either unwind or keep the fun going.

Kindle Paperwhite

I love holding a good book in my hands, but I’m not always willing to sacrifice valuable luggage space to pack it! The Kindle is perfect for bringing your entire library without the weight. This latest model boasts a bigger display for easier reading, a longer battery life for long journeys, and even faster page turns to keep your pace. You’ll never be bored, wherever you are: on a plane, train, or exploring a new city.

JBL Go 3: Portable Speaker

I use JBL products all the time, and this portable speaker is my new favorite from them. It’s fun and functional, with different colors to match your style, a sturdy design, and a hook for easy hanging. It’s great for the beach or any travel where you want to enjoy your tunes. Plus, it’s small enough to fit in your suitcase, even if you only have a carry-on. I love this little JBL speaker; it’s so cute!

Essential Tech for Luggage

Say goodbye to the stress of overweight baggage fees and the worry of lost luggage, and travel from country to country confidently. Whether you’re leaving for a weekend getaway or a cross-country adventure, these travel tech products help your luggage stay secure and give you peace of mind on your journey.

BAGAIL Digital Luggage Scale

There’s nothing worse than finding out your luggage is too heavy – AT the airport. Avoid frantic repacking and last-minute scrambling by weighing your bags at home with this digital luggage scale. It’s also great to have when you’re returning, and your luggage is stuffed full of souvenirs. With this, you’ll know to bring (or buy) an extra bag to avoid those pesky “overweight” fees.

Apple Airtag + Waterproof Case

I highly recommend an Airtag (or Tile for Android users) in your luggage whenever you travel. I put one in my checked bag, carry-on, backpack, and purse so I know where my stuff is at all times. I use this waterproof case to protect it, just in case there’s any spillage in my luggage (how does something always leak?!) or an accident. This case is great and comes in a 4-pack, so you can put one in every bag!

Personal Care Travel Tech

Traveling shouldn’t disrupt your personal care routine, and you shouldn’t have to compromise! There’s nothing quite like that fresh, clean feeling after a long flight. These travel gadgets make it easy to maintain good oral hygiene on the go, helping you feel just as nice as you would at home. Feel confident, comfortable, and ready to meet anyone on your journey!

PHILIPS Sonicare Rechargeable Toothbrush

I love traveling with this electric toothbrush; this little guy is fantastic. I use an electric toothbrush all the time at home but don’t want to take the entire contraption with me. This one plugs in with a USB for easy charging and is just portable enough to make packing easy. Get that nice, clean feeling on the go, whether you’re on a plane, in your hotel, or wandering around.

Bril UV-C Toothbrush Sanitizer

My electric toothbrush has a helpful friend! This is Bril, a UV light that you put your toothbrush in for easy cleaning. In just three minutes, it kills bacteria and other nasty stuff that ends up on your brush and that you don’t want to put back in your mouth! Pair it with the electric toothbrush to help keep your teeth healthy your entire trip.

International Adapters

If you’re traveling internationally with multiple gadgets, then you’re going to want a plug adapter. I actually travel with two adapters and keep one in the bathroom and one in the bedroom for convenience. These are not for using heavier-duty items, like a hair dryer; these are just for your phone and small electronics. If you’re going to be using something requiring higher voltage, you’ll need a converter. (But I don’t recommend risking it – leave the hair dryer at home)!

TESSAN Universal Travel Adapter

This is my adapter for everything when I travel to a foreign country. It’s very compact, easy to use, and works with all my travel tech. The different prongs pop out for use in different countries, and it also has a USB and USB-C plug-in spot. This one is amazing; I love it a lot! (This does not convert voltage – you’ll need a converter for that).

European Travel Plug Adapter

When I’m traveling just to Europe (but not in the UK), I use this little guy. If you don’t need a full adapter for everywhere, this option is less bulky to pack. It has a regular 3-prong and 2-prong outlet along with 3 USB and 1 USB-C ports for multiple devices at once. (This does not convert voltage – you’ll need a converter for that).

Traveling with Tech is Essential!

Traveling with tech isn’t just a luxury—it’s essential for ensuring safety and comfort and maximizing your time and fun during your adventures. With the right travel tech, you can navigate new cities with ease, capture unforgettable moments, and stay connected with loved ones back home. So, as you prep for your next trip, remember to travel smarter and leave your worries behind. Save your worries for for choosing what incredible restaurant you’ll have your next meal at, or picking out the perfect gift for loved ones back home.

Please let me know if you have any must-have travel tech items I don’t list here! I’m always looking for new items to travel with and make my life easier.
