Welcome to my Playa del Carmen travel guide!

It’s one of my favorite places in the whole world and I’m excited to share all my best Mexico travel tips with you. If you are traveling to Playa del Carmen, you’re in for a treat! Watch my “Know Before You Go” video below to see where to visit, what to eat, and what to see when you’re in Playa Del Carmen.

Getting to Playa Del Carmen

The closest airport to Playa del Carmen is the Cancun International Airport. It’s easy to get a taxi or airport shuttle to your hotel in Playa, but I always like to get a private driver. I always use Happy Shuttle, but there are lots of options.

Where to Stay in Playa del Carmen

For this trip, we stayed at the Grand Hyatt where you have the option to do all-inclusive or not. We decided not to and instead enjoyed exploring local restaurants and bars. My favorite hotel in the area is the Thompson Beach House.

My Favorite Restaurants in Playa del Carmen

La Perla Pixin and Clandestino are my favorite places to go for dinner. Make sure to bring your credit card or Mexican Pesos for the best exchange rates in restaurants. Also, check out some of the rooftop bars for beautiful views and cocktails.
