Viva Mexico!
Happy Tuesday Travels; I hope this missive finds you safe and healthy! I’ve just returned from a trip to The Riviera Maya, and it was the first time I’ve used my passport since February….I had heard mixed reviews about Mexico, but I took the leap, and booked a trip…I’m so glad I did! The weather was great, the beaches were beautiful, food delicious and people exceptional as always. I stayed in Playa del Carmen, Akumal and Tulum, and my favorite hotel was Hotel La Semilla in Playa. It was so charming, and just a 5 minute walk down the quiet Calle 38 to the beach. The service was exceptional, and the breakfasts were delicious! I highly recommend this hotel.
While I was in Playa, I met with Alexandra of Travel Fashion Girl, and Derek from Wandering Earl. Both of these travel bloggers have had their brands for a decade; what is The Abundant Traveler going to be like in a decade???? It was so fun to connect with fellow bloggers and like minded long term travelers.
If you are curious about flying….well, my United flights were full. United didn’t leave the middle seat open, which was a little daunting, but everyone on the flight was very respectful of each others space. The flight attendants handed out sanitizer wipes when we boarded, and they wore gloves throughout the flight.
Upcoming Trip
Join us in San Miguel de Allende for an exciting trip. Enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes of Mexico’s central highlands colonial-era city!
My favorite travel skort
While I was in Mexico, I realized that I wore the same 2 skorts every day…and yes, I washed them 🙂 I love these skorts because they are a little bit dressier than a pair of shorts, and they are so super comfortable. They are also easy to wash in a sink and quick to dry with very few wrinkles. They pack easily, and they go with any shirt. I own multiple colors of both of these Columbia skorts. Columbia Anytime Casual Skort & Columbia Saturday Women’s Trail Skort. You have to give them a try.
Airport COVID testing
We have to find a solution for travel, COVID testing and a way around the 14 day quarantine. So many states and countries are suffering because their economies are based on tourism, and I cannot imagine these economies a year from now if a solution isn’t found. As all the researchers work on a vaccine, some airlines and airports have come up with a way to do rapid COVID testing. Check out this article from AFAR, and NPR’s article. I see a solution in our near future!!!!
Ever heard of The San Juan Islands?
A few weeks ago, I was in the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington State. I spent a week there island hopping through these sparsely populated islands. If you love nature and oysters, The San Juans are for you! Check out this video to learn everything you need to know before you go….
