Amazon Prime Days & A Promise to Ourselves
Happy Tuesday everyone. It’s been a quiet week in Austin, Texas. There are so many fun things to do in Austin, so why don’t I do them? Why do we do the same things over and over again? What is it about human nature that keeps us in a rut, and not out trying new things in our own home town????? I thought, enough of that, and this week, I revisited my ‘why I love Austin Bucket list’. From food to hiking to the hill country to dancing, I love this town, and I vow to get out there and do the activities that make this town so amazing! One of my favorite things in Austin is Stand Up Paddle Boarding; actually, any activity on the lake makes me so happy, so this weekend, I got out there and spent most of Sunday on Ladybird Lake SUPing. Water, snacks, sunscreen and good friends, it was a perfect way to spend Sunday. Let’s all make a promise to ourselves…
“I promise to get out there and do the fun things that bring me joy in my own hometown!”

Ready to Ski?
Yes, it’s still 95 degrees in Austin, but this is the time of year that I pay for my Epic Pass (Vail Resorts ski pass), and I start researching places to stay in Vail and other resorts. Personally, I love to ski mid-January when the resorts are slower and recovering from the holiday madness. I also like skiing during Super Bowl weekend, which is always a ‘lively weekend’ in the mountains. This year, I found some great deals on Hotels.com for Vail and other resorts, and with Hotels.com, you can get extended free cancelations. Vail is ALWAYS expensive, but I found a 2 bed, 2 bath condo for $375/night in January….that’s unheard of!
If you are a skier, and need some new ski gear, check out my updated ski clothes blog post for all the things that I wear when skiing. SKI GEAR BLOG POST You can buy this gear during your Amazon Prime Days today and tomorrow.
Is Hawaii opening or not? Who knows?
Like many other tourist destinations, Hawaii is trying to decide how to proceed with opening their doors again. As of October 15th, in 2 days, Hawaii is supposed to begin allowing tourists without the 14 day quarantine, as long as you have an FDA-authorized nucleic acid amplification test from a certified lab. That all being said, it looks like The Big island is not going to allow this test and Maui is still deciding what to do. Below are a few articles to update you on the latest entry restrictions into Hawaii….We will all figure COVID and travel out eventually 🙂
