This was my 2nd Trip with The Abundant traveler. Being a pretty novice traveler, I typically do the touristy things and stay in a chain hotel. It is so fun to sign up for a trip with Kim and everything is taken care of. A few questions, a few suggestions and a few fun ideas were thrown my way and everything sounded so fun. Kim is a seasoned traveler and really knows how to get us immersed in the culture by finding smaller ares to stay in that aren't touristy, giving one a sense of what it would be like to actually live in the community.
The Abundant Traveler has wonderful videos/vlogs on what to do in a location as well as practicalities which help in the enjoyment of your vacation. With Kim, you are well prepared and do not waste anytime in immersing yourself in what the place has to offer. I cannot thank Kim enough for making this much needed vacation so effortless and memorable.

How many people per hotel room?
The trip is based on 2 person occupancy per hotel room. All hotel rooms have 2 beds. You can pay a $600 single supplement if you do not want to share a room.

What do you need prior to our travel?

  1. We require a copy of your passport with at least 6 months remaining from the date of your return to your home country.
  2. A copy of your flight schedule so we can organize transfers
  3. A negative COVID test dated within 72hr of beginning of the tour, 5:30pm on Thursday.
  4. Roommate requests or single supplement of $600.
  5. Copy of Travel Insurance
  6. Deposit due immediately & Full Payment by October 1, 2023
  7. Signed terms & Conditions and Planning Fee documents

Is this trip ADA accessible? Unfortunately, San Miguel, Mexico, is not easily accessible for the disabled. The hotel has stairs, and no elevator, and the sidewalks are very narrow and the streets are primarily cobblestone. Should someone with disabilities wish to go on the trip, we will make every accommodation possible, yet Mexico does not have the same laws at the USA

Is my $500 deposit Refundable? $250 of your deposit goes towards the planning fee (see documents), and $250 is transferrable to another trip. You will not receive an actual refund.

What if I need to cancel?
The deposit is handled as above; the remaining payments will be refunded as follows

  • 60 days in advance: full refund – planning fee and deposit
  • 30 days in advance: 50% refund – planning fee and deposit
  • 15 days in advance: 25% refund – planning fee and deposit
  • 7 days in advance: 0 refund

Which Airport do I fly into?
My recommendation is to fly to Queretero QRO or Leon BJX.  Both airports are approximately an hour and a half from San Miguel.

Is airport transportation provided?
Yes, please provide your flight details and we will organize your transfers from the airport to the hotel.

When should I arrive at the airport?
Our recommendation is to arrive by 2:00pm on Thursday as we will be meeting at 5pm for a group introduction and welcome

When should I book my flight home?
Our recommendation is an early afternoon flight on Monday. That will give you plenty of time for your final breakfast and farewells to the group before you get your transfer to the airport.

What if I have food allergies?
Please email us with your food allergies and we will do everything we can to accommodate your needs. Mexican food is so varied and delicious, we are sure your needs will be met.

What if I need a COVID test prior to leaving Mexico?
We have organized a medical professional to come to the hotel during our stay to provide COVID tests that are valid for returning to the USA. The fee is 800pesos per person and is not included in the price of the trip.

Do I have to be vaccinated to go on this trip?
No, but we require a negative COVID test within 72 hours of the start of the trip.

What additional money will I need?
You will need money for tips, shopping, flights & airline fees, cocktails, additional excursions and the following meals Thursday Lunch, Friday Dinner, Saturday Lunch & Dinner, Monday Lunch.

Do I need Travel Insurance?
Yes, The Abundant Traveler requires travel insurance, and we recommend using Travel Insurance Master

Additionally, we recommend MedJet supplemental insurance.

Is Mexico safe?
We have not had any issues in Mexico; however, all travel has it’s inherent safety concerns. We recommend not wandering away from lighted areas and not to be out late at night, nor walk by yourself after dark. Do not put yourself at risk.
