Day 1 | Welcome to Oaxaca
Arrival: Arrive in Oaxaca (OAX) Please arrive by 2:30pm. Transfer to our hotel.
Check in: Check in to hotel, unpack and stretch your leg
5:30 | Welcome Meeting: Welcome meeting to introduce everyone, provide itinerary and tips for our trip.
7:30 | Dinner: Dinner provided at local culinary restaurant with traditional Oaxacan fair, 2 drinks included

Day 2 | Private Walking Tour, group lunch and Mescal Tasting
Breakfast: Included at Hotel
10:00-12:30 | Private Tour: Private tour of Centro (center of town) including the history of Oaxaca, the unique architecture, and includes visits to a few private gardens.
2:00 | Lunch: Group lunch at classic Mexican Restaurant, included
6:30 | Mescal Tasting: Private interactive educational class and Mescal tasting
Dinner: On your own, recommendations provided

Day 3 | Mescal Palenque Tour & Shop until you drop 🙂

9:00 | 1/2 Day trip We will take a 1/2 day trip to a Palenque, Mescal distillery and Hierve de Agua
Lunch: On the way back to Oaxaca City
Shopping: Spend the afternoon shopping in Oaxaca

Day 4 | Cooking class and farewell dinner

11:00-2:30 | Cooking Class: Private cooking class. Start our class at the market procuring the finest ingredients for our lunch. Afterwards, enjoy an interactive cooking class and lunch (comida)
Afternoon: Free Time for cocktails, relaxing and shopping
7:30 | Dinner: Exquisite Mexican dinner curated at one of the top restaurants in Oaxaca. 2 cocktails included.

FAQs
The trip is based on 2 person occupancy per hotel room. All hotel rooms have 2 beds. You can pay a $600 single supplement if you do not want to share a room.
What do you need prior to our travel?
- We require a copy of your passport with at least 6 months remaining from the date of your return to your home country.
- A copy of your flight schedule so we can organize transfers
- A negative COVID test dated within 48hr of beginning of the tour, or a copy of your vaccination card.
- Roommate requests or single supplement of $600.
- Copy of Travel Insurance
- Deposit due immediately & Full Payment by October 15th, 2022
- Signed terms & Conditions and Planning Fee documents
Is this trip ADA accessible? Unfortunately, Oaxaca, Mexico, is not easily accessible for the disabled. The hotel has stairs, and no elevator, and the sidewalks are very narrow and the streets are primarily cobblestone. Should someone with disabilities wish to go on the trip, we will make every accommodation possible, yet Mexico does not have the same laws at the USA
Is my $500 deposit Refundable? $250 of your deposit goes towards the planning fee (see documents), and $250 is transferrable to another trip. You will not receive an actual refund.
What if I need to cancel?
The deposit is handled as above; the remaining payments will be refunded as follows
- 60 days in advance: full refund – planning fee and deposit
- 30 days in advance: 50% refund – planning fee and deposit
- 15 days in advance: 25% refund – planning fee and deposit
- 7 days in advance: 0 refund
Which Airport do I fly into?
My recommendation is to fly to Oaxaca OAX, and the airport is a 20min ride into the city.
Is airport transportation provided?
Yes, please provide your flight details and we will organize your transfers from the airport to the hotel.
When should I arrive at the airport?
Our recommendation is to arrive by 2:00pm on Thursday as we will be meeting at 5pm for a group introduction and welcome
When should I book my flight home?
Our recommendation is an early afternoon flight on Monday. That will give you plenty of time for your final breakfast and farewells to the group before you get your transfer to the airport.
What if I have food allergies?
Please email us with your food allergies and we will do everything we can to accommodate your needs. Mexican food is so varied and delicious, we are sure your needs will be met.
What if I need a COVID test prior to leaving Mexico?
Currently, the USA requires a COVID test within 24hr of departure to the US. You can order a COVID test through www.emed.com, and use the QR code to do a face time test.
Do I have to be vaccinated to go on this trip?
No, but we require a negative COVID test within 48 hours of the start of the trip.
What additional money will I need?
You will need money for tips, shopping, flights & airline fees, cocktails, additional excursions and the following meals Thursday Lunch, Friday Dinner, Saturday Lunch & Dinner, Monday Lunch.
Do I need Travel Insurance?
Yes, The Abundant Traveler requires travel insurance, and we recommend using Travel Insurance Master
Additionally, we recommend MedJet supplemental insurance.
Is Mexico safe? We have not had any issues in Mexico; however, all travel has it’s inherent safety concerns. We recommend not wandering away from lighted areas and not to be out late at night, nor walk by yourself after dark. Do not put yourself at risk.
