Summer is Here!

I’m home from Spain and London, and I’m so happy to be back in Austin….despite the heat.  Hello summer, I missed you so 🙂  It’s been a busy week for real estate, and I’ve been taking time to study how to build online businesses.  The Abundant Traveler is a ton of work and learning, but also a ton of fun, and I’m so glad I started this adventure.  A few weeks ago, I bought a new backpack from ebags, and I’m finally reviewing it.  I’ll also be sharing another great app called Splitwise, and finally some great summer wines.

Please share this email with friends and family who love to travel.  Ask them to Join the Travel Tribe.  I love sharing these weekly tips, and I’d be so grateful if you’d spread the word!

Ebags - Motherlode Weekender Jr.

I took my inaugural trip with my Motherlode Weekender Jr. Since I travel with a carry on size suitcase, and I carry filming equipment, tripods etc., I felt I needed a larger backpack to haul all my stuff. I bought the Motherlode Weekend Jr in hopes that it was a perfect fit for my needs.  I’m thrilled with the backpack, and I love the interior space and the extra expansion zipper.  There’s a sleeve for my computer in the back and plenty of pockets to stay organized…or confused which pocket I put my stuff in.  Although the backpack straps are average, it was very comfortable to carry and the weight was well distributed.  My only wish was that it had a sleeve to slide over my roller luggage handle. Overall, I’m very pleased with this backpack and will continue to carry it until I find the next thing….Squirrel, Squirrel.  Buy the backpack here.

Splitwise App

Have you ever had arguments about who owes whom money while traveling?  Or who paid the tip or that last taxi?  Well, I have the solution for you.  Splitwise is the best app when traveling with friends!   Let me repeat, THE BEST APP when traveling with friends!  This app allows you to create travel groups like our ‘cinque bellas’ when we were in Italy last year.  With any expense, you simply click on your group and add the expense then click whether it’s to be split by all parties or not.  At the end of the trip, you can settle up and BAM!  no more frustrations about money; no more arguments over who paid what.  This app has saved many headaches and possibly friendships over the past couple years.

Summer Wines

Are you looking to escape at the end of the day?  Well, how about a mini trip to France?  Here are 3 great wines that I love, and will be coiffing this summer as my mind drifts to the French Riviera.  Muscadet is from the western side of the Loire Valley, and it’s a fresh, light, mineral driven grape that creates a soft, easy drinking wine, perfect for middle of the day.  (I promise I’m not drinking in the middle of the day :)) Saumur is also from the Loire, made from Sauvignon Blanc and named after the city of Saumur.   It’s great for salads, white meats and a delicious early evening wine.  The Macon is a chardonnay from Burgundy; it is chardonnay, but not to be confused with California Chardonnay.  It’s a great dinner wine with cream sauces and fishes.  à votre santé!  To your health!
